A group of football club presidents have denounced calls by pro-democracy and civil society activists calling for the resignation of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, terming such crusade as unhealthy.

Barely two months after he announced his resignation as President of Liberia’s Darling Club Invincible Eleven (IE), Richard Tolbert has clarified that he actually had the intention to resign, but has not been able to do so.

Liberia Football Association (LFA) former Secretary General, Yanqueh Borsay, has called on stakeholders to "vote right" in the 2014 football elections for the good of the game.

The two-time chief scribe was quoted by the Daily Observer as saying that Mr. Bosay is alerting stakeholders to cast their white-ballot-papers in the interest of football development in the country.

The technical Director of Sports Development at the Youth and sports Ministry has frowned on what he termed as the early morning trainings by club teams within the LFA league.

Mr. Kelvin Sebwe said it is unfortunate that teams within the LFA league especially premier clubs will designed their training programs in a fashion that will disallow players to pursue their academic studies.

Mr. Sebwe said on several occasions, some players will boycott their classes to ensure that they honor their practice schedules in order to be feature in league games.
