Over the years in Liberia, plastic has been seen as a mere waste with no use to the society.

Plastic is one of the things that are not environmentally friendly, environmentalists say it does not get decay (rotten) after its usage even after 100 years.

In order to help protect the environment for this generation and generations to come, a young Nimbaian who is producing unused plastic for the production of flood tie is calling on the government of Liberia and other environmental organizations to come to their call with more assistance.

Williamson S.Walee told our correspondent in Nimba County, he has been engaged in the protection of the environment and making use out of plastic materials to produce floor ties. Walee explained that he got the idea from training in Cameroonian in 2017 and in Monrovia during the Seventh Day Adventist Congress.

“We were many that got this training, but for now, i think I am the only person who is putting this into use.”

He further explained that he is currently engage in the collection of wasteful mineral water plastic and producing floor tie out of it, but on a very low scale.
Walee revealed that they need support from the government, companies or the Environmental protection Agency of Liberia to come to aid by providing them with materials that will enable them produce on a larger scale.

Walee is a graduate of the Nimba Community college

“For now we are not many, and so to produce more of the ties from the plastic is a bit difficult and slow because we have to collect the mineral water plastic from all over the streets and garbage before making the ties.”

According to him, their production still at a low rate due to insufficient man power to do the collection of the wasteful plastic materials from in the streets and around the city in Sanniquellie in Nimba

Walee who is a graduate of the Nimba County Community College maintained that he is willing to help train more young people who can venture into the production and make living for themselves.

He further added that his ideas can be used to train more less privilege youths otherwise known as (Zogos) to transform their lives and get them off the streets in order  to get rid of environmental pollution in the country.
