Former Ruling Party head meets President Weah

Amid recent political disagreement with the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change led government, Former vice president Joseph N. Boakai Wednesday May 1, 2019 met president George Weah to discuss some national issues on prevailing situation in Liberia.

According to the Executive Mansion, the two statesmen used the visit to discuss a wide range of national issues relative to maintaining peace and stability.

Former president Boakai  who is the standard bearer of the opposition unity party has in recent time called on the Weah led administration to address some of the prevailing economic problems Liberia currently hampering growth in the country.

Executive mansion furthered, the Liberian leader updated Ambassador Boakai on progress his government is making to transform the lives of Liberians, make the country ‘attractive to foreign direct investment and to protect the tenets of democracy’.

 President Weah said he would continue to ensure that regular dialogue and consultation with every Liberian irrespective of political and ethnic affiliations.

Responding, Ambassador Boakai commended President Weah for the warm reception accorded him and for the president’s unwavering tolerance and open leadership ability.

He assured President Weah of his willingness to contribute to the nation building process in whatever way possible.

The former vice president visit to the president’s office  coincided  with a staggering accusation from CDC chairman Mulbah Morlu who disclosed that former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is one of the sponsors of the planned June 7, 2019 protest.

Addressing a press conference Wednesday May 1, 2019 at the CDC national headquarters, Morlu alleged that madam Sirleaf is sponsoring protest against the Weah-Taylor government because of  her son Charles Sirleaf indictment by the court.

Charles Sirleaf and three of his accomplices were on March 1, 2019 indicted and subsequently sent to court by the government of Liberia for colluding with Crane currency to print excess Liberian banknotes amounting to over 2 billion Liberian dollars.

Crane Currency AB has since denied any wrongdoing.

Former veep Boakai who resides in the same community with current president George Weah previously met the president after the 2017 general elections that brought Ambassador George Weah to power.
