Following recent outburst of war of words between Senator Prince Yormie Johnson and Representative Larry P Younquoi, the two have reconciled their differences.

The two Nimba statesmen have been at each other throat at various radio stations in the county and even on the national scene.

The most recent came as a result of statement made by senator Prince  Johnson about the Alternative National Congress( ANC) Ganta convention that he should be have been informed previously  by the ANC executive on their activities before staging their convention  because he is  ‘godfather’  of the county.

However, the statement made by Senator Johnson did not rest on a fertile political soil when District #8 lawmaker Larry P.  Younquoi strongly condemned the senator’s comments and categorization of himself as the County’s godfather.

Representative Younquoi challenged Senator Johnson to put a stop to the ANC Ganta convention if he claimed he is the godfather of the County. He further asserted that there is nothing in the constitution of Liberia that give rights to anyone person to be call a political godfather or godmother.

Media war

The media war of words between the two sons of the County has been going on for years with the religious community trying to find an amicable solution but to no avail.

The recent outburst and condemnation caught the eyes of many in the county and did not allow it go sky free like usual.

It took the Traditional council, Nimba Women for Peace and Reconciliation to call the two lawmakers to a roundtable to settle their difference and smoke the peace pipe in Ganta Nimba city.

Following the resolution of the matter, Representative Larry Younquoi took to his official face book page and posted a word of gratitude to all Nimbaians and those who helped to resolve the long outstanding dispute between them.

“I wish to inform all my supporters and fans and the generality of the Nimba people,  who have been so concerned,  that the recent feud between Senator Prince Y.   Johnson and me,  concerning the upcoming ANC Convention  in Gompa City,  has been resolved,” he posted.

This feat was achieved on April 30, 2019 in Gompa  City, through the intervention of the Chief and Elder  Council  of Nimba and the Nimba Women for Peace and Reconciliation.

‘Let by-gone-be by-gone’

The resolution matter was headed by the Chief and Elder Council Chairman of Nimba Chief Peter Barloun, Paramount Chief Anthony Gweipaye of Lao Chiefdom, while the women group was represented by Ms.  Christiana Dagadou, former Nimba Superintendent, Mrs.  Shirley Brown former Commissioner of Bain-Garr District, among others.

Both Senator Johnson and Representative Younquoi agreed to peacefully co-exist and let by-gone be by-gone.

Meanwhile   Representative Younquoi  has promised never to run to the public with response to any provocations from the Senator Johnson, but will channel his grievance  to the heads of the interveners if there is a need for response.
