Nimba District #9 Lawmaker Commends Citizens Support to Road Development

Nimba County District Nine Representative Johnson Gwaikolo has commended citizens of the district for providing over sixty thousand Liberian dollars (LRD$ 60,000.00) in support of the rehabilitation of several primary roads in the area.

The money was presented Saturday May 4, 2019 by the Selezui Development Organization of Yarwin Mehnsonnoh District to buttress Representative Gwaikolo’s efforts in making the District accessible by road.

Representative Gwaikolo said the intervention by the citizens demonstrates their patriotism, support and commitment to his leadership in moving the District forward.

It can be recalled that on March 2, 2019 Representative Johnson Gwaikolo launched a self-help road project in order to alleviate bad road condition facing his people.

The Nimba County lawmaker added that the project came as a result of delay in the disbursement of the District Development fund in the 2018/2019 fiscal budget. Representative Gwaikolo said, under the self-help road project three primary and four secondary roads are being earmarked to be rehabilitated.

“Thank you for supporting the self-help project,” he adds.

According to Representative Gwaikolo road connectivity remains his number one priority as was promised during his campaign.

Representative Gwaikolo, did not however, disclosed the exact cost of the project, but said thousands of united states dollars are mainly being spent to rent earth-moving equipment on a daily basis to do the road project.

Ealier, Selezui Development Organization Vice President Moses Somwarbi said the over sixty thousand Liberian (63,000.00 LD) is their initial support to the ongoing road project being undertaken by their lawmaker in the District.

Somwarbi further explained that as citizens hailing from District#9, they are quite aware of the prevailing economic situation in Liberia as such they cannot afford to leave the development of the district with the lawmaker alone.

Mr. Somwarbi also pledged citizens of the District willingness and preparedness to support  the development drive of the area for the common good of the District and people.
