Garbage Overwhelms Liberian Capital ahead of country independence celebration

With barely 23 days to Liberia’s 172nd  independence day celebration, citizens in the  capital of are crying from pollution in the city of Monrovia. 

Residents in the country’s capital and its environs are wondering over how the July 26 celebration would be like admits huge garbage that has almost engulf the city.  

As is often said that health is wealth, most of the residents are complaining of how polluted the city is and asking the government of Liberia to assistant the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) and the Paynesville City Corporations(PCC) to combat the garbage before the country’s independence day celebration. 

Some of the residents who are working for this very government who spoke to our reporter on anonymity explained that it will be disgraceful on the part of the government for the city the remain in such condition and invite international guest to come and celebrate with them here. 

Some residents who made public their views on local radio stations are asking the government to appoint madam Mary T. Broh as city mayor of the Monrovia city corporation in order to help keep the city clean and healthy. Madam Broh is the current Director of the General Services Agency (GSA). 

Residents sometime trade among huge dirt in Monrovia



Recently a local radio station Prime FM placed a call to the Communication Officer of MCC Pekeleh Gboapaye asking him about what the city corporation was doing to remove those dirt from the streets, and he responded that in the soonest possible time they were going to get those garbage out of the streets. But has gone almost a month now a now sign of garbage removal has been seen as the dirt continue to stock pide in various areas in the city. 

Some citizens for their part are calling on the Howard Taylor, Weah led administration to invite the GSA Director to help the city mayor to keep the city clean as the country will be expecting some foreign guest for the country’s independence day celebration.
