Sanniquellie-based Second Division Team Nimba Kwado will on Sunday, July 21, 2019 continue her fight for promotion to the Orange sponsored Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division league, when they take on Muscat Fc in Sanniquellie.

Nimba Kwado FC gained promotion to the Second Division League three seasons ago, after finishing 2nd in the 3rd Division National Playoff.

Kwado, formerly known as Sedina FC during her participation in the 3rd Division League, represented Nimba County in a National playoff but was defeated in post-match penalty by New Hope FC of Margibi County.

The Sanniquellie-based team also finished 2nd to Bea Mountain in the LFA short 2018 Second Division League, but didn’t get promoted like Bea Mountain.

Kwado FC finished 5th on the 16 teams table after completing the 2019 season with 47 points from 30 games.

The Mountaineers won 12 games, lost 7, drew 11, scored 33 goals and conceded 28, with 5 goals outstanding.

The Sanniquellie-based team will take on Muscat FC who finished 6 on the table.

The two teams will be fighting for promotion to the First Division, following the promotion of Bea Mountain and Free Port FC.

The Second Division League Champion BYC-ll and 4th place Gardnersville FC can’t be promoted, because they are feeder clubs to BYC-I and LISCAR FC already in the First Division League.

The two teams will play on a home and away basis to determine who qualifies to join Bea Mountain and Free Port FC as the new faces in the LFA First Division League.

The first leg of their meeting will be at the home ground of Nimba Kwado FC in Sanniquellie on Sunday July 21, 2019, with the second leg schedule on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the North Star Stadium, the home ground of Muscat Fc in Mount Barclay, lower Montserrado County.

A win for Kwado will put them in a good position to fight for either a draw or win in the second leg to ensure qualification to the First Division League.

Many sports enthusiasts are expecting the Mountain boys to pull the trigger and register a home victory, if any chance of a top flight football can be assured.
