Nimba Kwado FC gained promotion to the Liberia Football Association 1st division league following a goalless draw against Muscat FC.

Kwado held Muscat FC to a goalless draw on Wednesday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium having won the first leg 2-0 in Sanniquellie on Sunday.

The Sanniquellie-based club has now joined Cape Mount-based Bea Mountain and Free Port FC for promotion to the LFA First Division.

The newly promoted team is the first Nimba base team to be promoted to the first division league unlike Nimba United that is based in Monrovia.

The team which gained promotion to the second division league 3 seasons ago finished second to Cape Mount based team Bea Mountain last season but couldn’t get promotion to the first division league due to the league begin a special league.

Kwado was guided by one of Liberia’s experienced and successful coach Korvy Kollie to the first division after taking over the team at the beginning of the just ended season.

Coach Korvy Kollie also guided Nimba United to the first Division in 2014 and went on to win the first division league the next season.

Speaking in a post match interview, Coach Kollie termed his team promotion as a dream come true.

He explained that his target was to qualify Kwado to first division. He has however lauded fans and supporters of the team for standing by them throughout the entire league season.

He also encouraged them to keep up their support as they prepare for the bigger task ahead of them.
