Muslims in Liberia have threatened to boycott all national events if President Weah’s protocol officers refuse to extend apology to them; for what they termed as ‘gross disrespect’.

Speaking on the occasion marking the celebration of Eid al Adha also known (Abraham Day), Liberia’s Chief Sheikh Imam Ali Kramer alleged that protocol officers around the President are in the constant habit of placing Muslims in the backseat at national occasions.

Eid al Adha is the celebration of the Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son for Allah and marks the end of Ramadan the Islamic holy month of fasting.

Chief Imam Krayee demanded an immediate apology from protocol officers around President George Weah, for what he called blatant and continue disrespect at national events.

Imam Krayee asserted that during Liberia Independence Day celebration last year, both the invocation and benediction were given to Christian, while in 2019 President Weah was allowed to walk out of the program at the SKD when a Muslim cleric was offering the benediction describing the president action as an insult to the Muslim Community in the country.

He noted that Islam did not come to Liberia through the back door.

Imam Krayee also said failure to apologize to Muslims in Liberia it will leave them with no alternative, but to boycott every national occasion that will be attended by the President.

The Chief Imam added that religious tolerance by all in Liberia is essential to the country’s decade of peace, adding that this will help move the country forward.

He then used the occasion to pray for Allah’s blessing and protection over the government and people of Liberia.

At the same time, the Liberia chief Imam is calling on Muslims in the country to sacrifice their wealth for the interest of poor Muslims across the country and admonished them to slaughter their selfish ambition and embrace others in the country.

Imam Krayee has in recent time been critical of the Weah led administration speaking on some national issues.
