The United Nation Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has graduated about 26 persons in various disciplines from five mine affected communities of Arcelor Mittal Operations.
The graduation ceremony which took place in Sanniquellie at the auditorium of Nimba County Community college (NCCC) was intended to present the graduates to the community and their certificates and also have an orientation for another batch of students.
The graduates were drawn from Sehyi- geh, Zolowee, Minkinto, Camp 4 and Sanniquellie for further training to the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) in carpentry and advance rubber wood processing.
Speaking during the program, UNIDO National programme coordinator Jackson Spears II called on the graduates to work together as cooperatives so as to enable them to meaningfully contribute to the society.
Speare further revealed that the first batch of graduate will serve as mentors for the second batch currently undergoing their training at NCCC.
The program was attended by the president of the Nimba County Community college Dr. Edward Lama Wonkeryor, Ambrose Gbormie Superintendent, Government relations of Arcelor Mittal among others.
For her part, the Technical Project Advisor of UNIDO Ernica Mentersino cautioned the graduates to be focus and impact their communities.
Giving the overview of the project, Madam Montersino revealed that the project has three components that will be implemented throughout the program asking them to serve as trainers of trainees to expand the knowledge they have gained and contribute to their communities.
