Ahead of the 2020 midterm Senatorial election, Liberia’s Deputy Speaker Prince K. Moye has begun visiting Churches and Mosques to seek religious advice, prayer and direction regarding his involvement into the process.

It can be recalled that the Lawmaker visited the First Baptist Church and a Mosque in Bong Mine, Fuamah District Lower Bong County where he asked to the two religious groups to advice and give him the right direction.

Deputy Speaker Moye said as a Deacon in his Church and somebody who believes in God, he thought it wise to approach the different Churches in order to pray for him and advise him to see whether what people are saying is a true manifestation of God’s word.

The Bong District #2 Lawmaker said he has been called by his citizens to continue serving them despite of his pronouncement that he will not seek re-election (3rd term) in the District.

Deputy Speaker Moye: “So few months back I have been asked, they said look you said in your District that you are not going for third term; for sure because I just wanted to set an example, because minus government I able to find my own lily food to eat”.

“ I said, I  have served my people for two terms it’s okay.  I want to leave a legacy, I want to leave good legacy in District#2 so that anybody coming after me can say yes, we have someone good here”, Deputy speaker Moye added.

Deviating from promise?

The Deputy House Speaker indicated that after he made the pronouncement regarding his desire not to go for third term, people became curious, thereby asking as to where he is going and others were thinking if he will contest in Margibi District #1 where he lives as it was done by Rep. Edwin Melvin Snow.

According to him, even though he has made a promise not to go for third term in office but his people who believe him have petitioned him to run for the senatorial race next year.

The Bong County Lawmaker added that it is good when an individual is about to make a decision it is important that that who are making such request make their input at all fronts.

“They are asking that if there will be election in 2020 then my face can be on the ballot paper”, he asserted.

“I have come to ask you to tell me whether it is God’s direction that I stay in the County and do some work that Fuamah District  can see it and that I do not need to seek permission from anybody to come in the District because the citizens’ votes will be behind me,”  Deputy Speaker Moye explained.

Meanwhile Deputy Speaker Moye has assured citizens in the area that if they elected he will first give direction to the County; and what China Union supposed to do in the District rightly will be done because he knows it.

China Union is an iron ore company operating in Fuamah District Bong County after signing agreement with the government of Liberia in 2008.

Deputy Prince Moye was recently petitioned by the people of Bong to contest for the 2020 senatorial med-term election in the county.
