Flashback: Chinese army medical team to Liberia

By Daniel Garteh

In the wake unfavorable political wrangling in the country, a humanitarian organization, the Tuazama Development Initiative (TDI) has  with heavy heart suspended its expected trip to Liberia for the delivery of medical equipment and some doctors.

The initiative is a philanthropic institution that is engage in helping the less fortunate around the world and putting smiles on many faces.

It can be recalled  few months ago, that Hon. Owen Johnson Tuazama promised to bring in a CT scanner along with specialized doctors to Liberia at the end of December to test and treat Liberians at the expense of the Tuazama Development Initiative.

Owen Johnson Tuazama is a Liberian philanthropist from Nimba County who lives in the diaspora.

The decision to donate a CT scanner and bring in specialized doctors to Liberia was driven  out of the passion for a healthy Liberia, especially at a time when the government and staffs at Jackson Fiah Doe  hospital in Tappita in Nimba County was tussling over the only government owned CT scanner in the republic.

Announcing the suspension of the trip today on his official Facebook page, the CEO Hon. Owen Johnson Tuazama said, the trip was suspended because of the current state of affairs in Liberia with respect to the pending protest and counter protest.

Some group of Liberians under headed by polictical commentator and talk show host Henry Costa have set December 30 to protest against the givenment of president George Manneh Weah due to what they “call bad governance” in the country.

“When the dust settles, and we are sure of the safety and security of our guests and medical equipment to be delivered, we will arrange a suitable date to travel as a team”,   Mr. Tuazama posted late Tuesday evening.

He added that despite the current ups and down in the country, Tuazama Development Initiative remains committed to her promise to ensure that Liberians back home can receive quality treatment to remain healthy and go about their normal lives.

He further mentioned that it is his fervent prayer that we as citizens can solve our problems in Liberia in a decent way because other nations that endured the agony of civil wars like us are progressing economically.

Liberia is currently undergoing economic constraints that include cash shortages and corruption for which members of the opposition community continue to criticize the Weah led government.
