The friendly match which featured soccer legend President George Weah, Kelvin Seigben, former Lone Star machine man Oliver Markor, Prince Daye, George Gebolo, goalkeeper Sunnay Swea among others ended 3-2 in favor of the former Lone Star players with President Weah scoring the last goal in favor of his side.
Controversies around 2020 County sports meet
The 2020 national County sports meet grand-final ended in a deadlock as players of four time winner Nimba county walked out of the playing pitch in protest against centre referee Hassan Konneh second penalty in favor of Grand Kru county.
However, many football followers condemned Nimba players’ action and the Ministry of Youth and sports subsequently imposed a fine of US$1,500.00 and banned the team from the tournament for two years.
Youth and sports minister Zeogar Wilson at the press conference regarding Nimba players’ action described the players as “Hooligans” something that prompted the Nimba sport committee to issue a strong wordy statement against Minister Wilson.
