The Guss Group of Company and Pharma Plus – Liberia Limited (GGC) has announced the donation of a consignment of medical supplies and equipment to the people of Liberia through the Ministry of Health.
In a release issued by the Chief Executive Officer of GGC, Augustine W. Weah, the medical materials, which include Caremol, Co-Trimoxazole tablets, Aminophylline, Ampicillin-Injection, Amoxicillin-Capsules Erythromycin stearate for oral Suspension, multivitamin and some equipment among others have been airlifted by a special flight to Liberia from the United States.
The medical supplies, Mr. Weah said, were made possible because of the partnership between GGC and Pharma Plus -International that operates in over 20 countries including Liberia and other parts of Africa, Europe, North America and Asia.
He paid homage to Pharma Plus Foundation for the purchase and transportation of the items and said the donation will significantly improve health care for mothers and young children.
He also thanked the Minister of Health, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah and her team at the ministry for their assistance in making the project a reality, adding, “This donation of medical materials will enable local health workers to improve the provision of quality health services in Liberia.”
As we say in Liberia promise is a debt. So, Guss Group of Companies and Pharma Plus Liberia Limited have decided to help. They have done similar humanitarian gestures in other countries.”
Ambassador Weah, a cousin of President George Weah is a long term staff of the United Nations and is also a business executive.
He was embroiled in a bribery case after being indicted by the Liberian Government, but was acquitted by Judge Blamo Dixon Criminal Court ‘C’ on ground that “the evidence [against him] is not just weak, but it is completely empty, fabricated, sentimental, scanty, speculative, frivolous and flimsy.
He thanked all those who stood by him during his ‘darkest days’ and pledged to use his connection and influence internationally to seek support for Liberia in all sectors.
As partners and family, he pledged to encourage Pharma Plus International to make Liberia as one of its hubs to create jobs for young pharmacists and boost the health sector.
“My friends and I will be coming to Liberia for this great donation program in February 2020 and this will not be the first or the last time.
Liberia is currently in dying need of medical equipment and supplies as many public health facilities lack some basic medical equipment to carter to some ailment in Liberia.
