Journalist Cewhy Kwanue and others to get Tuazama Legacy Award

An International philanthropic institution is expected to give several international accolades  to individuals who have meaningfully contributed to their society and the world at large. 

The TUAZAMA LEGACY AWARD is hosted by the Tuazama Development Initiative, an international foundation that was established by Liberian philanthropist and  award winner  Owen Johnson Tuazama. 

 TDI as it is affectionately known has establishments in the United States, Latin America, the Asian continent, Ghana and Liberia. 

The initiative was founded by Owen Kanwen Johnson Tuazama, Grandson of one the powerful and affectionate chiefs from Nimba; Chief Alhaji Kanwen Tuazama of Zoegeh, Nimba County. 

The late Chief Tuazama name is a household name in Nimba especially in the Bahn,  Zoe Geh statutory district and is credited for begin one the greatest chiefs of Nimba who also give birth to the City of Bahn in Nimba County. 

According to TDI founder Johnson Tuazama, the Legacy award  is aimed at promoting the Liberian culture and heritage, at the same time displaying the rich tradition to the world at large. 

 “In the sub region like Ghana and Nigeria, Liberia didn’t have Kings but great Chief who are highly honored  to the same as royalty”, he adds.

The 2020 Chief Tuazama Legacy Award will be given to 10 selected people who have exemplified courage, excellence, compassion and leadership in various aspects of life. 

Those individuals have worked in various capacities and countries, some in constrain conditions to ensure that the world become a better place for all. 

The ceremony will take place  on March 6, 2020 at the Double Tree Hilton 4509 Island Avenue in Philadelphia at about 7:00PM (EST) or  4:00PM Liberian time

Personalities to receive the Tuazama Legacy Award include  Rose Mary Cavalcante – Educator,  Rolita James – Global Missionary,  Mapillar Dahn – Sickle cell disease patients advocate and Celue Doe – daughter of former President Samuel K Doe. 

Others are Gonlee Gaye – Former  political prisoner and head of YMCA, Prinze Whyee – Liberian born international filmmaker, Cewhy Kwanue – frontline Journalist and Editor of one of Liberia’s oldest Newspapers Daily Observer,  Nvasekie Konneh – Retired battle tested navy veteran, writer, poet, advocate, Onesimus Gayemen – traditional BASSA group founder and Perry Mulubah – former  assistant minister of the PRC government.

Owen told Liberia Public Radio  that the awardees  are  individuals have demonstrated high level of professionalism, commitment, and stood the test of time to reach to the level they are, as such noting the Initiative find  it fit to be honored while they are still alive.
