Nimba County former Senator Saye Taayor A. Dolo has expressed deep frustration over the handling of yellow machines purchased during the 52nd legislature for use by the County.

The 22 pieces of earth-moving equipment were purchased by the people of Nimba during the 52nd legislature after receiving funding from Arcelor Mittal Liberia and the County Development Fund received during the first term of the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf administration.

Nimbains in time past agreed during a general meeting to purchase the 22 pieces of yellow machines to help pave their farm to market roads in the county.

Currently, all the 22 pices of the earth-moving equipment are parked at various locations in the county due to maintenance problem following the failure by the county administration and members of the county legislative caucus to make funding available to repair them.

There has been some rigmarole between members of the county legislative caucus and former Nimba Superintendent David Dorr Cooper over the remittances of money to the county for maintenance of the yellow machines, with fear of him diverting it to his personal use for his campaign purposes in the upcoming senatorial election.

Nimba County former Superintendent Dorr Cooper once shifted the blame of the machines being parked on what he termed as government’s failure to remit money to Nimba County adding that the government was owing the county a huge some of Money.

Former senator Dolo at the same time blamed the situation of the machines being down on what he calls the ”ineptness” on the part of those in leadership to put in place proper mechanism that could have prevented the financial challenges the county is currently faced with.

He indicated that the depreciating condition of the earth-moving equipment should be of concern to every Nimbain, adding that people should be made to give proper account because the equipment were brought with the Nimba people’s money.

The former Nimba Senator also explained that politics seriously played a part in the breakdown of that equipment saying the technical people were not given the opportunity to perform their task; rather it was indirectly control by politician.

“The Project Management Committee (PMC) is a technical area that should be given to technicians, but politicians can influence them,” something he frowned at.

There has been a public outcry and concern over the status of the county yellow machines with citizens calling the county administration to make sure that the equipment are functional to begin to rehabilitate their farm to market roads as Liberia will soon be experiencing another rainy season.

Meanwhile, former Senator Saye Taayor A.Dolo who is one of the prominent sons of the county who has openly declared his intention to participate in this year’s midterm senatorial elections in Nimba.

Dolo went in to private life in 2011 after serving the county as Junior senator from 2005 to 2011 when he was unseated by incumbent senator Thomas Grupee who himself has openly declared to re-contest the upcoming election.
