Nimba County District # 2 Representative Prince O. S. Tokpah has called on citizens of the country not to elect any sitting lawmaker in the pending midterm senatorial election.
The Nimba County Lawmaker make the disclosure on Saturday, when he has traveled to Karnplay in District # 3 to honor the ground breaking ceremony of the Karnplay City Hall.
Hon. Tokpah lamented that government is not capacitated to conduct bye- election across the country. He asserted that his colleagues at the lower house who were elected two years ago that have the intention to run for the senatorial election do not have the country at heart.
“The government is currently looking for money to host the pending October election, where will the government get additional money from to sponsor another election three months in 2021 after the October election?”
The Nimba District # 2 policymaker further explained that even the international community that is providing financial support to the country is feeling discourage and weak in helping the country financially.
Hon Tokpah seriously rejected the action of his colleagues to contest in the upcoming election, adding that it is increasing poverty in the country and making the economic to fall.
He claimed that the continuous action of members of the lower house contesting for the senatorial post without the expiration of their turner is wicked and will continue to suffered the ordinary people.
The Nimba lawmaker is calling on citizens of the country to reject those lawmakers through the ballet box. He further called on his colleagues to focus on the six years mandate given to them by the people.
“If they want to seek other higher position, let them wait for the six years to be expired and contest, but you can’t be in the current position and be seeking for another one when your time given has not finished.”
Speaking to reporters in Karnplay, the Nimba District # 2 lawmaker revealed that government has to focus on other development priority issue for the people, but can’t be spending almost all the money on bye-election.
Representative Prince O.S. Tokpah has vowed to take the message to other parts of the country.
