Phebe Hospital Administration has debunked Frontpage Africa March 6, 2020 publication describing the hospital as death trap for citizens in Bong County and other citizens around the country.

FPA in its March 6 report said that the death toll at Phebe had increased to 5 as a result of the lack of fuel to provide electricity which prevented Doctors and nurses from catering to patients at the hospital.

FPA said the Government-run Phebe hospital, a 75 bedroom medical facility in central Liberia, is under a cloud after two persons died Thursday and the medical staff blamed lack of electricity to run the generator of the facility.

According to FPA report, the death toll at the hospital has increase to five something they said was as the result of patient awaiting oxygen in less than 10 days.

Responding to the Front page Africa publication, the Communication Director at the Phebe Hospital Mr. Samuel B. Kplaiwru described the report as not begin credible and far from the truth.

Mr. Kplaiwru asserted that even though there has been fuel shortage at the hospital, but it did not in any way contributed to the death of any patient at the hospital, adding that those under critical conditions have always being assisted by Doctors at the hospital through their personal contributions and other relatives.

The Phebe Hospital Communication Director said, while it is true that there were challenges at the hospital, the Government of Liberia has been able to provide fifty three thousand ($53,000) united States dollars as part of the hospital regular allotments.

According to him, through the money given by the Government they have been able to make the procurement of three thousand (3,000) gallons of fuel which will keep regular electricity at the hospital for about three months.
