Convict Jonathan Williams has finally been sentenced for life.
According to our Judicial Reporter, the Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Biomi County, Nancy Sammy, announced the sentence Thursday, March 26, 2020 in Tubmanburg City, Liberia.
Prior to his life sentence, Convict Williams on Monday, openly confessed killing Journalist Tyron Brown on April 15, 2018 in self-defense and out of anger in the Du-Port Road Community in Paynesville.
According to our reporter, Mr. Williams is expected to be detained at the Monrovia Central Prison pending his subsequent transfer to the Zwedru Correction Palace in Grand Gedeh County.
Press union welcomes sentencing
Meanwhile the press union of Liberia has welcomed the court verdict against convicted murderer Jonathan Williams.
According to Charles Cuffy, president of the union the judge decision to sentence Mr. Williams to life in prison is a clear signal that no one can walk with impunity for doing wrong.
