The Nimba County administration and the Renaissance Architecture and Construction Engineering, Inc have signed a contractual agreement of 26.5Km of road for maintenance work on the Zorgowee – Dulay Road in Zor Clan, Gbeh-lay Geh.
The feeder road pilot project is being sponsored by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) is implemented in three counties including Bong, Lofa and Nimba counties and is intended to enable the free flow of farm products to the markets.
The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and the Liberian Government in 2009 entered into an agreement as part of SIDA contribution to the government of Liberia’s poverty reduction strategy embarked on the funding for the rehabilitation/construction of over 500 Kilometer of feeder roads in Bong, Lofa and Nimba Counties.
It can be recalled in 2012, the Liberia Swedish Feeder Road Project extended its activities in Nimba Paving the Yarsonnor-Payee road, Nengbein – Yelekoryee, connecting Tindink Menyan, Suakarzue-Yalagounpa Flowin road, Zorgowee-Dulay, Zuluyee- Yehbo road and the Sanniquellie – Varnyanpa road.
The signing ceremony which took place on Thursday April 9, 2020 in Sanniquellie in the conference room of the County .
Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Senior Maintenance Engineer of the SIDA road project for Bong, Nimba and Lofa Mr. Jlacoum disclosed that the maintenance work of the road is a pilot project given to local authorities of the three counties to maintain these roads.
He called on the Nimba County Administration to ensure the successful implementation of the road, adding that when completed successfully, it will be extended.
The SIDA senior Maintenance Engineer for Bong, Lofa and Nimba further lauded the county administration for the smooth, transparent and fair conduct of the bidding process from the beginning up to the level they have reach without complaint from the construction companies that applied during the bidding process.
Nimba County Superintendent Nelson Korquoi gracing the ceremony extended gratitude to the SIDA family for always thinking about Nimba County.
Korquoi further asserted that they are looking up to SIDA for more, adding that Nimba is a big county with more feeder roads that need to be connected for more farm produce to come go to the market for consumption.
He mentioned that Nimba is still challenged with connecting feeder roads with major and international roads in the county that to enable more farm and agriculture products on the market.
Superintendent Korquoi called on the construction company to exhibit cordial working relationship with the community in which they will be working in order for the work to go ahead smoothly.
