The office of the Presidential Press Secretary has sharply reacted to rumors insinuating that the President of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, was tested positive for Coronavirus.

Mr. I. Solo Kelgbeh said President Weah is in good health. He described the reports about the President’s health as false and a complete lie.

Mr. Kelgbeh said while the President plans to take the coronavirus test in the not too distant future, he has never been tested by anyone or any entity, and that he has been in a clean state of health.

The clarification comes after political commentator Henry Costa posted on social media that president Weah has been tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday.

Mr. Costa posted: “President Weah has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

They intend to keep it quiet. Remember, we were the ones who told you FIRST that Musah Dean, Eugene Nagbe and others had tested positive”.

The Presidential Press Secretary disclosed that since Liberian Chief Executive declared the state of emergency in the country, he has been in self-isolation, conducting official meetings visually.

President Weah was recently seen close with information Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe who was tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday April 27, 2020.
