As part of effort to continue creating awareness in District#9 Nimba County about the danger poses by the coronavirus disease, the consortium of NGOs and Civil Society Organizations in the district under the banner “Nimba D-9 official COVID-19 awareness team” has made another donation for used by the task force.
At a brief ceremony held in Monrovia on Friday, May 1, 2020, the Executive Director of women Empowerment Forum, one of the NGOs operating in the area said after making their initial donation the group decided to again buttress the effort of the district COVID-19 taskforce by providing another amount of cash to continue their work.
According to Madam Laura Bee Kiekpo, the only way any group of such can work is to support them financially and other material supports to enable them perform.
She said the presentation of LRD$13,000.00 was in addition to the previous cash donation that was made by the team last month to Representative Johnson Gwaikolo for onward presentation to the district Taskforce.
Additionally, the Nimba District #9 official COVID-19 awareness team has presented about two hundred hand-washing buckets for use by some towns and communities including clinics in the distict.
Receiving the donation from the Nimba District #9 Official Covid-19 awareness team, the lawmaker of Nimba Distict#9 Representative Johnson Gwaikolo lauded the group for their continuous support towards eradicating the virus from the district.
Rep. Gwaikolo used the occasion to cautioned Liberians especially those hailing from the district to help in whatever means in order to curb the spread of the virus from the country.
He said consorted effort is required from every citizen of Liberia in order to get rid of the deadly coronavirus from Liberia.
It can be recalled that the first coronavirus case in Nimba county was confirmed on a citizen of Distict#9 Nimba in the town of Zoutou about 25 miles off the city of Tapita in lower Nimba County.
