A Liberian Clergyman has suggested that the Liberian Government open the country out rather than shutting down the nation as the result of COVID-19 situation in the country.
According to the Apostle of the Heritage International Ministries Incorporated, Apostle Jonathan Williams, closing the nation without finding cure for the virus has been created serious economic gaps for Liberia and its people.
Apostle Williams made the assertion Sunday May 17, 2020 during worship services at the Church’s edifice in Slipway central Monrovia.
He stressed that the Coronavirus has no cure currently and for nearly the past two months, Liberians have been observing health protocols instituted by the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia, but yet the virus is on the increase since the time of the State of Emergency when 50 percent of the country was being shut down.
He noted that government and its officials are creating panic among population and not realizing that the situation is creating serious hardship on the ordinary citizens who are struggling to get their daily bread.
Apostle Williams maintained that infectious diseases will continue to spark out every five or ten years globally such as COVID-19 and government cannot maintain that every activity should be at standstill until the disease is eradicated from the country.
According to him, countries like Taiwan, Tanzania and Sweden do not closed down their countries, but they were able to observe all the health protocols such as social distance, hands washing and using nose masks to prevent the spread of the disease.
He elaborated that the world is in the end time and strange diseases will comes and the people should believed Almighty God for protection and not entertain fear which the Devil will always use to intimidate the people.
Apostle Williams emphasized that if government continues to close the country up until 90 days, it could affect the already struggling economic system and create tremendous hardship as well as increase the poverty levels of people.
He cited that Liberia is not an industrious nation which is cultivating her own food and goods, but most of its consumable goods are imported so it is about time that the government should reconsider its decision of not keeping the country partially closed, noting that it is doing more harm than good for the nation and its people.
It can be recalled that the Liberian Government order churches to close down worship services on March 22, 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the population when confirmed cases were just three persons in the country at the time.
Government recently lifted ban on churches worship services on May 17, 2020 with confirmed cases around 223 in Liberia now but Apostle Williams it is also necessary to open up the country.
