The people of ten towns and villages in Garwula and Tawor Districts in Grand Mount Cape County have received some food items from a non-governmental organization known as “Empathy Liberia”.

Empathy Liberia has   predicted dangerous consequences if the corona virus is allowed to spread to inaccessible areas in the rural parts of the country.

According to the Executive Director of the organization, Jedii Sonii there is a need for people residing in areas that are inaccessible to take the necessary preventive measures in order to curb the corona virus spreading to their communities.

Mr. Sonii made the disclosure over the weekend when Empathy Liberia distributed over 100 bags of rice, buckets, sanitizers and dusty soap to ten towns and villages in Garwula and Tawor Districts in Grand Cape Mount County.

He stated that the items which are value over 2,000 United States Dollars were funded by young Liberians residing in the country and abroad.

He expressed the need for other humanitarian organizations and well established individuals to assist the people in the rural parts of the country because the imposition of the state of emergency has slowed down their farming activities.

Mr.Sonii urged the people not to allow the replica of the loses experienced during the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia when proportional number of people died from the areas due to denial.

The food and salt were distributed among vulnerable people including old people and single mothers while the buckets, sanitizers and soaps were distributed to Mosques,  Churches  and learning institutions as well as  those who could not afford to purchase essential materials especially during the state of the emergency.

The recipients in separate remarks thanked Empathy Liberia and called for more support from   organizations in order to cater to  the needy especially in the rural parts of the country

The towns and villages that benefitted were Bobolar, Mofi and Nagbana, Pujoun, Diah, and Daniel Town including three camps   in Jojoyma and Samakor.
