Local group calls for speedy trial in motorcyclist’s death in Nimba

A local organization in Nimba, Zor Development Association (ZDA) has issued a statement  calling for a speedy trial in the murder case of one of their sons Jericho Goa Suahgonlah who was recently allegedly killed by a street vendor and his brother. 

In a press statement issued on Sunday  May 17, 2020 in Sanniquellie by the Programs Director Edwin Korden, the Association condemned the gruesome murder of Jericho Goa Suahgonlah in Sanniquellie on Wednesday May 13, 2020 following a tussle of $ 5 LRD or (US$0.025) change. 

“This unprovoked killing of an innocent person is just the most recent of the many vicious acts that have caused mob violence in our county, and country at large,” the release adds.

Zor Development Association is a conglomeration of sons and daughters hailing from the Zor clan  in Nimba County residing in different parts of Liberia and the world at large. 

The Association through their press release says that they are patiently waiting to see the criminal justice system proceed as expected before coming up with their next course of action which they did not mention and  “if otherwise” but was quick to mentioned that they remain peaceful. 

“This heinous act once again underscores the urgent need for immediate justice. We, ZDA, therefore call on the security (LNP) and the judicial system to speedily investigate this gruesome killing of our late son and brother.” 

ZDA demanded that the perpetrator be brought to justice and receive punishment consistent  with the crime they have committed.

The group added that gone are the days when such cases were compromised adding that they are  in the case with their all to ensure that justice is dispensed. 

It can be recalled that on Wednesday May 13, 2020 Jericho Goa Suahgonlah has gone to do a 5 mintue orange transfer from a street vender and requested for his $ 5 LRD change and it resulted in to a fist fight between he and the street a vendor. 

The incident later intensified when the street vendor called his brother to come and revenge for him something that led to the death of Suahgonlah at the G. W. Harley Hospital in Sanniquellie. 

Liberia Public Radio has been reliably informed that the two perpetrators are currently seeking medication at the phebe hospital in Bong County after they beaten by angry crowd following their arrest by the angry citizens.
