The Christ Evangelistic Ministries (CEM) has embarked on a major agriculture project in Careysburg City in Montserrado County.
According to the Pastor of CEM, Rev. George S. Page, the agriculture project is intended to prevent hunger after the eradication of COVID-19 in Liberia
Rev. Page made the disclosure Tuesday May 26, 2020 when the project site was toured with journalists and some pastors from District #1 in Montserrado County.
He stressed that agriculture is key for any nation to transform the socio and economic development its people and the country.
He pointed out that Liberia should invest in the soil as a bank which is critical for the growth and development of the citizenry.
Rev. Page maintained that government should prioritize the investment of agriculture as a major priority to revamp the country’s economy.
He indicated that the agriculture project was started with the family little resource since the beginning of March 2020 and the project will start with rice production and later various crops.
He described the agriculture project as the” 21th Century Rice and Vegetable Production Farm”
Rev. Page emphasized that the agriculture project is two acres of land and the youth in the community has been empowered to cultivate the land.
Meanwhile, the Consultant for the agriculture Project Pastor Harlay Momo said the project is intended to produce sufficient food to feed the nation.
Consultant Momo pinpointed that Liberians should get involve with farming during this is critical time, noting that after the elimination of the conoravirus and next crisis could be hungered.
He cited that most of foods from neighboring countries are produces with more chemicals which are not good for Liberian populace.
He said the agriculture project is also intended to train other pastors and their members in the body of Christ to be trained in farming activities in the country.
For his part, the Manager of the agriculture project J. Albert Deeward said the project will go a long way to empower young people in the community.
Manager Deeward noted that farming is critical toward transforming the socio-economic development of youth in Liberia.
