The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has shutdown unknown company in a big compound extracting water illegally in a residential area on the 18th Street in Sinkor.

Acting   Executive Director of EPA, Randall M. Dobayou stated that the company has no name indicated in the EPA’s database and it is operating without obtaining environmental permit before operation.

Director Dobayou made the statement Wednesday May 27, 2020 when the EPA orders the closure of the company.

He noted that project of this nature requires an Environmental  Impact Assessment and licensing  prior to operation  as stipulated in Annex one  of the Environmental Protection and Management Law of Liberia(EPML).

He pointed that a team of Environmental Inspectors were disallowed entry to assess your facility on May 26, 2020 on ground that the manager of the facility was not available to grant any permission, noting that this act is in complete violation of Section 95 of the EPML.

According to him, it is unfortunate for a company to operate an industrial project within a residential zone without an environment management plan and unbearable noise via the unregulated movements of vehicles.

Director Dobayou stressed that failure for the unknown company to adhere will lead to stringent the relevant environmental studies prior to operation all operations are shutdown.
