The Country Director of the Life for African Mothers (LAM) has appealed to Liberian Government to reconsider its decision to distribute rice to certain people rather than all Liberians  in the country.

According to Director Abdul-Rahman F. Bah, the battle against COVID-19 has affected every Liberian financially and government stimulus package should not be limited to certain group of the population.

Director Bah made the appeal Monday when Life for African Mothers distributed several bags of rice to elderly people in various communities in the Electoral District # 10 in Montserrado County.

He noted that the State of Emergency declared by the government has significant impact on the economic status of many Liberians and if government should distribute rice to certain people, however, it should be done across the nation and not only people described as vulnerable in the society.

According to him, the State of Emergency which is intended to combat COVID-19 has make every Liberian vulnerable and providing some bags of rice  to the population across the board will a long way to bring some relief to the ordinary people.

Director Bah stressed that people are suffering as the result of the coronavirus in the country and some people who are working with private entities are not being pay since the State of Emergency was instituted.

He pointed out  that the Life for African Mothers focuses on training more midwives for Liberia and the rest of Africa, but now organization is providing some food items to older people.

He said the organization is expected to carryout major rice distribution across Liberia within two months time and hoped that everything will work according to plan to assist Liberians at this critical time in the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

Director Bah emphasized that Liberians should continue to observe the social distance and wearing of mask including hands washing to prevent the spread of the deadly disease, despite the government has extended the State of Emergency the time from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM the health protocols should adhere to accordingly.
