The west Africa Biodiversity and climate Change (WABICC) Project has began the broadcasting of a 24-episode radio drama on the protection and conversation of various forest landscapes in the region.
The drama entitled “Forest Blessings” began broadcasting on various local and national radio stations in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Cote D’ Voire in several languages.
The drama is part of wider effort to tackle climate change in the MRU countries.
Some of the radio stations that “Forest Blessings” is being aired on include the national radio of ELBC 99.9 fm, Radio Life located in Lofa county Tai Radio station in Ivory Coast, Radio Hard Work in Mano River Kongo Grand Cape Mount County and the hosts of other radio stations in neighboring Guinea and Sierra Leone.
Liberian official lauds drama
Lofa County Superintendent William Tamba Kamba said Forest Conservation is key to the development of the county and country at large and as such wants citizens of his county to ensure that their Forest are preserve.
Speaking via telephone on during the official Launching of the Forest Blessings program on Radio Kintoma superintendent Kamba added that his administration is working closely with local Chiefs and Elders around the affected communities to ensure that they stay out of the Fores
The 24 episode radio drama and calling show series will be aired on Radio Kintoma in Voinjama city Lofa beginning June 1 from 7:00pm to 8:15pm respectively.
Forest blessings will be aired 4 times weekly on Kintoma Radio onMonday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
The Forest Blessings Radio program is part of a five year West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that aims to improve conservation and climate-resilient lowemission growth across West Africa.
