Liberia: Auto Driving Academy appeals to government for resumption of vocational schools in Liberia

The General Automobile Driving Academy (GADA) has appealing to Liberian Government to allow vocational and technical institutions across the country to resume operation in accordance with the health protocols regulations.

According to the Director of GADA Jeremiah K. Davis, vocational and technical institutions students   are mostly adults who can easily observe all the health protocols to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in the nation.

Director Davis made the appeal Thursday in an exclusive interview with  Liberia Public Radio in Paynesville outside Monrovia.

He asserted that the opening of vocational and technical institutions at this critical time of the global pandemic affecting several countries will go a long way to enhance the skills of students around Liberia as many of forgetting about some technical skills.

He disclosed that observing social distancing, wearing nose mask and hands washing would be continued practices among the students and staffs of institutions.

Director Davis stressed that the opening of vocational and technical institutions should be considered highly to allow adults continue their training technically.

He noted that every sector of the nation has been affected as the result of COVID-19 in Liberia, but since the government has relaxed the restriction on the State of Emergency other sectors should gradually resume operation.

He added that although government is doing everything possible to protect its citizens against the deadly disease. However, COVID-19 will be like any other infectious disease that people are living with, until a cure can be discovered.

Director Davis maintained that Liberians should continue to observe the health protocols regulations set up by the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the population.

The Liberian Government is expected to open its international airport and other places to resume normal operation before end of June 2020, but academic schools, vocational and technical institutions and universities across the country are yet to be considered re-open.
