The chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change Margibi Chapter, J. Francis Karpu, Sr. has given justification for the decision taken by the County Executive Committee of the Party to suspend its Vice Chair for Operation, Mr. Ruben Washington.
Mr. Karpu at a Press Conference held over the weekend in Kakata said Mr. Washington has gone against the norms and values of the CDC.
He stated that Ruben continues to run the Party in the Press by broadcasting everything that happens at the level of the County introducing himself as an official of the CDC.
Additionally, Mr. Karpu said the “suspended Vice Chair for Operation” while on the media denigrate the CDC Government and the Party as a whole.
He mentioned that the unwholesome behavior of Mr. Washington led members of the Executive Committee of the Party convening a meeting where the committee immediately took a decision that was advised by the elder council and other officials of the Party.
Mr. Karpu argued that the Party then turned the issue over to a grievance committee chaired by the elder council and co-chaired by the Party’s Vice Chair for Political Affairs eight months ago.
He explained that the issue was then being discussed and information that was taken to the next executive committee meeting was that Reuben Washington apologizes through a written document something he promised to do but to no avail.
The CDC Margibi Chairman revealed that since then the suspended Vice Chair has been on Radio giving information that are not true noting that as Party Stewarts and officials, another meeting was convened.
He said this time around when meeting is called, Reuben Washington does not show up.
He recounts that Mr. Washington this come around went on the Radio to insinuate that the Party needs to support a non-member because it is not prepared.
“And trying to insinuate that before someone joins the Party it means you have to have thousand persons before someone can join the Party” he stated.
He intoned that on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 county executive committee members met with 19 members in attendance and a decision was taken.
Francis Karpu disclosed that 13 executive committee members were in favor of his suspension with the remaining four persons abstaining from the process including him on grounds that he supposed to break the tale had there being any.
He elaborated that since the decision was taken, Reuben has taken to the Radio both in Upper and Lower Margibi trying to insinuate that because of the Party performance he advice that it does not put forth a candidate in the upcoming 2020 midterm senatorial election and should rather support a candidate from upper Margibi.
Mr. Karpu: “because those who are behind him are from that particular direction and they are not in our Party but they need our party support and they want to do it covertly instead of following institutional way of doing thing, and so as a party that decision was taken and he embarked on the process of creating chaos”.
Mr. Karpu in his Press statement asserted that Mr. Washington has never being able to appear to any of the Party’s meetings to try said attitude because he knows their party is a respectable party and a party that when its members converged no one single member will think that he/she is more superior than others.
