Former District#4 lawmaker Garrison Yealue Jr. declares intention for Senatorial election in Nimba

A former lawmaker of Nimba County District #4 Atty. Garrison D.Yealue Jr, has openly declared his intention to contest in the upcoming December 8,2020 special senatorial election in the country. 

Making the disclosure on a local Radio station in Sanniquellie Radio Nimba via mobile phone from Monrovia, Atty. Yealue said that he wants to contest for the highest political position of the county to help bring change and transformation in the county. 

Speaking to reporters, Atty. Yealue explained that he wants to become a string voice of the ordinary people of Nimba through rigorous advocacy, something he said he would not bid down to anyone unpatriotic regime. 

Atty. Yealue narrated that when elected to the house of elders, he will join ranks with some critical voices at the Liberian Senate to politically fight for his county and the Country for the right thing to be done. 

The former defeated lawmaker pointed that Nimbaians and Liberians deserve better with the many resources the Country has. 

Atty. Garrison D. Yealue Jr who is a ranking member of the People’s Unification Party has vowed to seriously disagree with his party if they attempt to collaborate with the ruling coalition for Democratic change (CDC) in the upcoming December special senatorial election. 

“If they join ranks with the ruling establishment, I may appear in the ballot paper as an independent candidate”. 

In 2011, Atty. Yealue Jr was elected on the deform National Union of Democratic Progress (NUDP) of controversy Senator Prince Yormie Johnson part ticket. 

He later lost in 2017 on the PUP ticket in court to the current lawmaker Gonpue Kargon of senator Prince Johnson Movement of Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR). 

The former lawmaker has added his voice to Nimba County District number 5-representative Samuel G. Korgar calling on the Government of Liberia to pay what the government owns the Nimba people. 

Atty Yealue threatened to dragged the government to court of they fail to pay what they legally own the county. 

He mentioned that the government has not remitted any amount pay by Arcelor Mittal Liberia in the County’s account since 2017; something he said is hampering the developmental growth of the county.

The former District#4 representative promised that when elected, he will introduce a bill that will allow counties open account, where companies operating in that county will directly deposit social development fund intended for the county. 

Current Nimba District#1 Representative Jeremiah Koung, former Supt. Edith Gongloe Weh and Mr. Taa Wongbe, a staunch supporter of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) have all declared intends to contest the senatorial seat in Nimba comes December 8, 2020.
