Dr. Whapoe: 2017 presidential hopeful blames corruption, other unruly acts on lack large of agriculture production in Liberia

As the saying goes that Agriculture is the back bone of any develop nation ecnonmy, the political leader of the Vision for Liberia Transformation Party (VOLT)Dr. Jeremiah Z. Whapoe is encouraging Liberians to invest in the agricultural sector for large food production.

Speaking to cross section of farmers Saturday July 18,2020  on his agricultural rice farm on the Kitomah Sanniquellie highway, Dr Whapoe said, agriculture answer all questions for any nation.

He explained that agriculture enables Educational, Health, Engineering, Technology, and Road network questions and problem for any develop nation in the world. 

Dr. Whapoe narrated that his decision to invest in the agriculture sector is based on his passion to lead by example and to fulfill his campaign promises made to Liberians in 2017. 

Dr. Jeremiah Z Whapoe contested on the Vision for Liberia Transformation Party during the 2017 presidential election and obtained the vote of 3,946 amounting to 0.3%. 

He mentioned that while it is true that he wants to become President of Liberia, he doesn’t want to be a president who will loot the country’s economy, but will be a leader who will put money and food on the table of every citizen through agricultural activities. 

The VOLT political leader blamed the act of prostitution, corruption, bribery, nepotism, stealing on what he said is the cause of hunger in the country.

“When you are really hungry and don’t have food to eat, you can steal. When you are really hunger and don’t have money, you can love to a man you don’t really love, when you are hungry and don’t have money, you can love to old woman and call her God mother, whereas God doesn’t have mother, he asserted. 

Dr. Whapoe lamented that it is regrettable for Liberia, a country with rich soil will depend on imported rice before feeding her citizens. 

He further mentioned that the only way Liberian will move ahead and develop is when the government heavily invest in the agriculture sector and the citizens themselves return to the soil to grown what they can eat.

He claimed, now he is cultivating farmlands in in Districts # 4, 5, 8, and 2 respectively in Nimba as well as a peanut farm in Papala Bong County.
