Aggrieved Bong Residents demand superintendent to restitute money over failed loan scheme

Citizens of over eight towns and villages in Bong County Want Madam Esther Walker restitute money taken from them since 2014 towards establishing a loan program.

The aggrieved citizens alleged that Madam Esther Walker took over sixty-seven thousand Liberian dollars from them under the disguise of establishing a loan program that would empower less fortunate women in the district.

The angry citizens maintained that Madam Walker allegedly took one thousand five hundred Liberian dollars ($1,500LD) each from over fifty seven (57) persons in district #2 and #3, respectively for the registration fee for a loan scheme that did not work.

They told Liberia Public Radio recently in an interview that despite frantic efforts made to retrieve their money from Madam Walker has yielded no results.

The women most of whom are small skill marketers narrated that Superintendent often switched off her phone after recognition of the individual, including turning down series of plan meetings and engagements.

“It was during the 2014 senatorial election when Esther Walker came to us about certain loan.

She said the registration fee for one person is $1,500 Liberian Dollars for you to benefit”, they told our correspondent in the county.

The citizens wondered why Madam Walker will treat them in such a manner describing the behavior as ugly.

They called on Madam Esther Yamah Walker to refund their money to enable them handle other personal responsibilities.

“If Superintendent Walker does not bring our money, we will take her to court because this is our hard earned money.”

They insisted. When contacted, Bong County Superintendent, Madam Esther Yamah Walker stated that does not have time to comment on trivial matter.

“Your leave me. I don’t have time for that thing” Madam Walker responded in a harshly 

Since the appointment of the Bong County Superintendent by president George Manneh Weah in 2018, the Superintendent has been rocked in series of controversies, including  the much talked about “I able Treason trial?”, as she was repeatedly been caught in the web series of recordings.

It may be recalled early Monday morning April 20, 2020, Madam Walker without any authority or knowledge of the health system, unilaterally announced to the public that there are six suspected COVID-19 cases in Bong County, sparking uncertainties for many Bongese who termed her appointment as a total misrepresentation for Bong county.

Some of the areas in which Superintendent Esther Walker allegedly collected the purported loan include: Janjay, Gbenequelleh, Tolomana, Petet Ta, Samay, Douata, Civil compound community, among others all of electoral district two (2) and three (3), respectively, with survey gathered citizens are over eighty-four (84) in the two districts that she collected money from.

Furthermore, it may be recalled, Madam Esther Yamah Walker was heard accusing the government of President George Manneh Weah of the wrong doings.

In that leaked audio which led to Madam Walker’s suspension for three months. During the recording, Madam Walker alleged that the Weah’s government is being controlled by three individuals, including Monrovia City Major, Jefferson T. Koijee, Finance & Development Planning Minister, Samuel Tweh and the Minister of States for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Nathaniel McGill.

In that audio, Madam Walker explained that she drank a bottle of soft drink for over two (2) hours promised to be quiet.

Madam Esther Yamah Walker who is noted for aggressively addressing major issues of public concerns in Bong County, recently crossed over from the former ruling National Patriotic Party- NPP, to the Congress for Democratic Change-CDC of ex- soccer legend and now President George Manneh Weah, after spending barely 27 years citing ‘titanic leadership calamity’ within the NPP.
