Women of Weala and its surroundings in District #5, Margibi County have pledged their unflinching support to their District Representative, Clarence G. Gahr.

The spokesperson of the women, Marilyn G. Coker making the disclosure in Weala at the ground-breaking ceremony of annex 2 of the Weala Public School in Weala over the weekend said their decision to stand by the lawmaker is due to his developmental initiative.

She stated that women of Weala and its surroundings recognized the intervention of the Lawmaker over the short period.

Madam Cooker explains that the women of District #5 voted for Hon. Gahr and they have no regret over the decision they made during the 2017 general and presidential elections.

“When you talk about school, other people in the community started to murmur, but we the women knowing the kind of man you are, a man of integrity and loyalty we know the kind of school you are going to bring to us.

According to her, the District #5 Lawmaker will provide for them a child friendly school where there will be no bribery, favoritism and money for grades, but student will be based on merit.

“In this light, we the women are going to wrap our hands around you by giving you our support in leading this district, we are also going to gown you.

Hon. Gahr, we the women are going to be with you; when you go in the north we will follow you, when you go south we will follow you, when you go east we will follow you and when you go west we will follow you in Jesus name” madam Coker concluded and gowned the Lawmaker.

For his part, Rep. Clarence G. Gahr said the construction of annex 2 of the Weala Public school is meant to provide opportunity for school going children who cannot afford going to the main campus as the result of the distance and the movement of vehicles on the Kakata Gbarnga Highway.

The Lawmaker intoned that this will also lessen the burden on parents who cannot afford to pay their children school fees amidst the economic hardship faced by the citizens coupled with the closure of the Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) which may affect the Company’s school system.

Additionally, Rep. Gahr averred that he had a consultative meeting with the citizens and they explained the importance of erecting the school in the area.

“And from all indications, you have the average age of children from ABC to six grade is about 15 years old; if they have to walk 20-25 minutes from here to school taking risk that car is speeding on the road, is too dangerous to them” he said.

Rep. Gahr asserted that he has acquired 5 acres of Land for the project and there is an ongoing negotiation with the land owner to acquire about 25 acres if available to be reserve for future developments.

He noted that the one hundred and fifty nine thousand United States dollars for the project is not county or social development money neither is it a legislative support project money but from his salary.

The District #5 Representative disclosed that similar project will be erected in the Barclay Farm area if need arises adding that the erection of annexes is not intended to undermine the Weala Public school that was erected by his predecessor but to turn it into a multilateral high school.

Hon. Gahr also clarified that he is not competing with anyone, but it is incumbent upon them as leaders to prepare the next generation of leaders indicating that the future of every child lies with them as leaders.

He informed the public that the Education Minister has assured him of providing the required teachers needed to run the school if erected.

Meanwhile, the Weala Public School annex 2 when constructed will contain a cafeteria, dining hall, and kitchen, six class rooms, reading room, teacher lounge, an office, storage facilities, latrines and play ground respectively.
