Liberia Public Radio has confirmed that former Gbarpolu District #2 Representative Malai G. Gbogar was on Tuesday evening killed after a car ran into her while sitting near her home in Gaye Town Old Road.
LPR’s reporter on the scene said the former lawmaker died instantly after been hit by a moving vehicle near her drugs store in Sinkor.
Eyewitnesses told LPR that the owner of the vehicle is yet to be identified.
Her remains are reported been taken to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia
An a eyewitness told LPR reporter on Tuesday the incident was mysterious as the lawmaker was contemplating to contest the upcoming mid-term senatorial election in Gbarpolu County.
She was elected in 2011 as representative of District #2 Gnarpolu County until 2017 when she lost to now Representative Joseph Matthews. Several residents of District Number #10 Montserrado where the former lawmaker lived described former representative Malai G. Gbogar as a peaceful person who was always around the ordinary people.
According to report, the unidentified driver of the car that killed the lawmaker was rushed to hospital after the accident and is said to be responding to treatment after he went unconscious.
