Press Union of Liberia has with immediate effect suspended the membership of freelance journalists, Mark Jabateh, Togba Tuwray, and Edward Mortee.

The decision followed Jabateh’s decision to join the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) ahead of the ensuing mid-term senatorial elections, while Tuwray and Mortee of Grand Kru County have been inducted as chair and vice chair of the ruling Coalition.

Journalists taking up membership with the Press Union of Liberia are strictly prohibited from taking member of any political party and are advised to stay away from its accompanying functions.

Meanwhile, the PUL has forwarded Journalist Rhodoxon Faryah to the National Media Council for his political activities in the lead up to the ensuing mid-term senatorial elections.

The Press Union Liberia has also forwarded to the Media Council photos of journalists and its members who wore the Coalition for Democratic Change T-shirts at a rally in March.

Their identities will be recorded and proper administrative actions instituted as determined by the National Media Council.
