The President of Liberia Ambassador George M. Weah has embarked on the construction of several markets building across the Country since his ascendency as President of the Republic of Liberia.
During the 2017 Presidential and Representatives Elections Campaign, Ambassador Weah then Standard Bearer of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), promised marketers that when elected as President he will do everything possible to empower marketers, disclosing that his late Mother was a business woman that devoted her time in the market to provide daily meal as a single mother.
The Coalition for Democratic Change led Government has initiated the building of many market building structures, President Weah recently dedicated the famous Joe Bar Market in Montserrado County District #10, the Duport Road market and the Jacob Town General Market amongst others.
Deputy Presidential Secretary Smith Tobey, in an Executive Mansion podcast displayed the modern completed 14 Gobachop market in the Omega Community, Paynesville, the 14 Gobachop Market has the capacity of hosting more than 3,500 marketers,-with spacial environment and decent latrines and nice bathroom component.
The 14 Gobachop market was implemented by the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) contracted by BMC with funding from the Japanese government.
When dedicated the 14 Gobachop market will absorb marketers currently occupying the famous and congested Red-light market, which will subsequently see the realization of smooth floor of moving vehicles with in the Paynesville.
Smith Tobey, Deputy Presidential Secretary in the office of Ambassador George Weah disclosed in his podcast at the newly constructed 14 Gobachop Market will be dedicated very soon by President George Weah.
The 14 Gobachop Market in the Omega Community, was initially initiated by the Unity Party regime under the stewardship of Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, with the aim of re-locating marketers at the red-light.
Naming project after himself
Since his taking over of the presidency, Weah has completed few projects, which have been named after himself including the 14 Military Hospital, which he embarked on in February 2018.
Unprecedentedly, many projects undertaken by the Weah leadership have been named after himself something many opposition politicians have since criticized.
Many political pundits believe the move by the ex-soccer player is only intended to promote his own image instead of fostering the development of the country.
