The Liberia National Union has officially certificated three persons to contest on its tickets in the special midterm senatorial elections slated December 8, 2020.
Those personalities officially certificated to contest on LINU tickets are Paul Kennedy in Gbarpolu County; Johnny Ndeke, in Lofa County; and Representative Bahway, Grand Kru County.
Speaking at the certification ceremony, LINU National Chairman, Dr. Nathaniel Blama, said Liberians should not allow their political difference to derail the peace currently prevailing in the country.
He cautioned politicians against the threats of violence and he does not think any well meaningful people should threaten to wage war in the country
Dr. Blama pointed out that political differences does not mean amenity and politicians should learn advocacy in addressing issues instead of insulting one another.
“This country is at the cross road,” Dr. Blama said; adding: “ the advancement of this country in any step depends on us as a group of people and all of us are on obligation to preserve the peace in the country.”
In remarks ,the senatorial aspirant of LINU in Gbarpolu County, Paul Kennedy, called on the people of Garpolu County join him in reducing the high rate of poverty in the country.
For his part, LINU senatorial aspirant in Lofa County, Johnny Ndeke expressed in the outcome of the senatorial election as edent of the level of support from the women in the country.
Also speaking , LINU senatorial aspirant in Grand kru County , Representative Nathaniel Bahway, cautioned political parties against overlooking people wishing to contest of the their tickets and vowed to win the senatorial elections and bring pride to his people.
In a related development, a new leadership for the women and youth wings of LINU have been elected and subsequently inducted into office.
Those elected and inducted in the leadership of the women wing are Alberta Sanea, Chairperson; Eugenia Paie, Vice Chairperson; Decontee Teah, Secretary General; while Andrew Cooper, Chairman ; Leo Tiah, Vice Chairman; Kendell Karbida, Secretary General among others
LINU in 2017 later pledged support to the ruling Coalition for Demorcatic Change (CDC) in which the political leader of the party Nathaniel Blama was rewarded with the position of Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency.
But Dr. Blama was recently sacked by president George Weah on allegations of unilaterally signing a contract on behalf of government after two years of service.
