Correction officers under Probe for allegedly releasing Sodomy suspect in Grand Gedeh

Several Correction officers at the Zwedru correction Palace in Grand Gedeh County are currently under Probe for allegedly releasing a 21 year old man  Bryant Poquee who was re-arrested.

Poquee was facing jail sentenced for allegedly Sodomizing a six year boy in the CVI Belleh Yallah Gold Mining Cape on August 15, 2020.

But  he was arrested, charged and forwarded to court on August 21,2020.

The correction officers allegedly received huge amount of money from an unknown individuals through mobile money in the correction palace to release defendant Poquee.

It was only Brayant Poquee who was released from the correction palace  after his parents reportedly bribe the correction officers which prompted the correction supervisor in area to declare defendant Poquee wanted.

 Defendant Poquee was re-arrested at the   the entrance of zwedru early Friday morning September 4,2020

  According to Police in Zwedru, the Defendant   did not escaped as being pronounced by the correction supervisor but he was rather released by some correction officers under certain alleged dubious arrangement. 

The defendant Poquee alleged that his parents send certain amount of money on one of the officers phone with the agreement to have him released with a motorbike to transported him to Nimba ,his home County.

He is currently at the correction palace assisting team of security personnel with the investigation to identify those that aided his release for cash.

This  is not the first time for correction officers to release a defendants or an inmates who have committed terrible crimes  in the name of   jail  break.

It was reported that  the six year boy was called by defendant Poquee to enter his room for the purpose of watching movies on his phone.

When the six year old boy entered his room, he locked his door and push the child on his mattress and closed his mouth with cloth and sexually abused him.

The 6-year survivor later informed his mother about the behavior of defendant Poquee and his mother later took him the Martha Tubman Memorial hospital for medical examination where it was diagnosed that he was allegedly penetrated by defendant Poquee.

Following the examinations the suspect was arrested by officers of the women and children protection section of the Liberia National Police and carry him to  Zwedru Grand Gedeh County where he was investigated, charged and forwarded to court.

Liberia Public Radio understands that based upon the medical report from the hospital couple with investigation and eye witnesses testimonies from the crime scene, defendant Poquee was charged with involuntary sodomy.

Our reporter said the 6-year-old  survivor is responding to treatment with the help of Rescue for Abandoned and Children in Hardship after he  earlier suffered from bleeding.

The child is also said to be  in the possession of the independent commission on Human rights county coordinator in Grand Gedeh County.
