Weah Government vows to tackle rape issue; concludes two-day confab on rape and SGBV

President George Weah vows relentless efforts in the fight against sexual Gender Base Violence across Liberia.

President Weah stressed his commitment to ensure that SGBV is reduced and eradicated in Liberia.

Speaking at the start of a two day 2020 Anti-SGBV National Conference Tuesday at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, the President said the aim is to collectively determine best practices and procedures to combat rape.

The Liberian Leader said at the end of the conference, a define proposal would be taken into account and serve as validation of Government and Partners Roadmap on ending Sexual Gender Based Violence  2020-2022.

“Following the review of this Roadmap over the next two days of our deliberations, the Government plans to achieve effective results by adopting a new approach to addressing the Sexual and Gender Bases Violence-prevention process across all sectors, which will be characterized by adequately funded prevention and response mechanisms”.

The expectation is that at the end of this conference, the road map will be fully inclusive of every possible through we have on fighting this menace to our society, with the objective of improving our coordinated national response” President Weah said

Making remarks Chief Zanzan Karwo, Head of the National traditional Council of Liberia calls on government to turn rape perpetrators over to the traditional council.
