Taa Wongbe, the man who contested the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) primaries in Nimba says he will contest in the County despite his party admitting that he has agreed to let go the primary result.
Taa lost to madam Edith Gongloe Weh 126 to 46 votes in the primary in Nimba which was later protested by the ANC due to alleged fruad.
Political observers in Nimba told Liberia Public Radio following a post by Mr. Wongbe that the move could hamper the senatorial bid of Madam Gongloe- Weh from the CPP.
A Nimba who preferred not to remain anonymous told LPR Monday afternoon that the action by Taa Wongbe to contest as independent candidate might be a strategy from the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) who is vying to claim all 15-seats in the senatorial race.
He said since the governing CDC is desperate it is designing every avenue to undermine the opposition by influencing the process leading to their unity.
Meanwhile Mr. Taa Wongbe has announced his resignation from the Alternative National Congress (ANC), the party he has been part of for some years now.
Taa told Ok FM his quest to contest in Nimba remains unbending and cannot be stopped by anyone despite an appeal from political leader of the ANC Mr. Alexander Cummings to give way for Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh.
However, it remains unclear whether Taa Wongbe, 41-year-old who is a development consortium will win densely populated county of Nimba among Prince Johnson supported candidate Jeremiah Koung, former representative Garrison Yealue, Jr. and madam Edith Gongloe-Weh who have some poplitical strongholds in the county.
