Liberia: Golden Veroleum employee sent to court over rape allegation in Sinoe

Police in ‘one way town’ in Tarjuwon District, Sinoe County  has sent to court a 50-year-old man and an employee  of Indonesian oil palm  company Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL) identified as Washington Seekey  for allegedly raping a 16-year-old epilepsy Patient.

The suspect Seekey work in the operation department of Golden Veroleum Liberia in Sinoe County.

According to report, the 16-year-old epilepsy Patient was passing by when the alleged suspect called her at his house and took her to his room.

Given his age the survivor didn’t refuse to go his call but upon her arrival, suspect Seekey took her to his room and gave her L$100 and sexually abused her after which she began to bleed profusely.

Our reporter the teenage girl then went to her parents’ house while bleeding and they later alerted the police about the situation.

The Suspect was arrested by the Liberian National Police Investigation, charged and sent to court on October 17, 2020.

In another development, a commissioner Tarjuwon District identified as Jaryee Mennor and other persons have been sent to court for allegedly murdering a businesswoman from Nimba County residing in Sinoe County.

According report gathered from the county, deceased in her late 40s was on her way to a nearby town to sell her goods when two men on bike give her lift but later  stopped the motorbike pretending to go in the toilet.

Our reporter added that after the return from toilet, the two men began hitting the businessman with sticks and suddenly killed her and then dragged the lifeless body in the bush.

When he entered in the bush, following his return, the struck the lady on her head and she fell on the ground and she was allegedly dragged in the bush and allegedly murdered her.

Residents of Sinoe County told Liberia Public Radio that the murder was witnessed by two boys ages between 17 and 18 who checking on their traps when they spotted commissioner Mennor and another man unnamed hitting the lady before dumping here remains in the bush.

Meanwhile Following the murder of the businesswoman, there have been series of protests by both women group and a team from Nimba Kwado who were sent from  Nimba County went to Sinoe County.

Several members of the Nimba Kwado team were being arrested by police in Sinoe during the protest, residents have told Liberia Public Radio.
