Barely two days following the conduct of the 2020 midterm senatorial election, a Coalition for Democratic Change’s Candidate in Margibi County, Ivar K. Jones has craved a reconciled Margibi.

Rep. Jones at a major press conference held at the Party’s Headquarters in Kakata on Thursday, December 10, 2020 said it is now time that Margibians especially the seven candidates who participated in the just ended senatorial election go back to the drawing table and put aside their differences and move the County forward amidst whatever that was being said during the political campaigns.

The District #2 Lawmaker recounts that he wants to see a reconciled and developmental Margibi that will be second to none in Liberia.

Additionally, Jones noted that he wants to see a Margibi that is corrupt free and a Margibi that believes in integrity, accountability and massive development respectively.

He informed his opponents that Margibians were given the opportunity to do a selection through an election of would be the next Senator of the County.

“We all fought war, we contributed what we could; we propagated our campaign messages, it resonated with the people, the people went to the ballot box and make the decision” he told his opponents.

He expressed that as they all close their campaign activities and await the results, it is for sure that out of the seven Candidates there is only one winner adding that as they wait for the one winner everyone should unite not with deception but a common good which is Margibi.

“Let us be peaceful and let us remain calm because whatever result that comes from the National Elections Commission is the voice of the people as enshrined in Article one of the Liberian Constitution” he said.

He stated that the Margibians have spoken and when the NEC shall have finally announced the election result the will of the Margibians will prevailed.

Rep. Jones is at the same time admonishing his supporters and citizens of Margibi to listen to the final results of the election from the National Elections Commission and should be done with civility.

He thanked his supporters, campaign team, chairpersons and members of the three Political Parties making up the Coalition for Democratic Change in the County as well as the national leadership for the efforts they exerted during the campaign activities.

Currently, Rep. Jones according to a provisional result announced by the NEC has obtained 1,099 votes constituting 38.0% making him second to former House Speaker James Emmanuel Nuquay who has obtained 1,504 votes constituting 52.0%.
