SOS call for 15-Year-Old girl ill-treated for alleged Witch in Nimba County

Liberia Public Radio has gathered a first-hand information that a 15-year – old girl identified as Nohn Domah has been   ill-treated by her biological on suspicion of   being  a witchcraft.

Nohn Domah who appeared very malnourished is been accused of causing misfortune for her parents Mr. Eric Domah and Mrs. Mamie Domah, both of whom have since abandoned her.

Family members of the maltreated child had not actually established the exact witchcraft activities she is involved into.

But Mr. Domah told Liberia Public Radio correspondent in Nimba  that he actually wanted to take Nohn to the hospital but there is no finance.

He furthered explained that due to the alleged act by his daughter, he has borrowed money to have her safe no way.

According to he has taken the girl case before the commissioner of the township in which they live and by January  2021 little Nohn will be  made to take oath in order to vindicate herself.

Under the Liberian law, there is no provision that recognizes witchcraft.

Meanwhile following the unveiling of the story by Liberia Public Radio on Monday, a Liberian residing in the USA,  Anthony Payouway alias “Mondaygar” has donated at least US$30.00 (LRD$4,800.00) dollars to purchase clothing for the little girl in the meantime.

Many children in Liberia have been mishandled on suspicion of being in ‘juju’ or ‘witchcraft’.

An official at the Ministry of Gender Ministry told Liberia Public Radio on Tuesday December 29, 2020 that the ministry is exerting efforts to dispatch its social workers in Ganta to ascertain the little girl’s situation.
