Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye has concluded a meeting with Citizens and stakeholders of Kokoyah Statutory District geard towards bringing development to the county.
The meeting took place recently in Kokoyah Statutory District comprises of four sub-administrative districts.
According to Liberia Public Radio correspondent in the County, as a result of the recent meeting, residents of the district stand to benefit from several concession companies in the District, including MNG-Gold, Arcelor Mittal-Liberia, Alpha Logging, Transco CLSG amongst others.
Our correspondent said the meeting brought together several stakeholders in the county and was well attended by the Statutory Superintendent Conteh Yallah, commissioners of the four administrative districts, the women leaders, youth leaders, political stakeholders, pressure groups among others.
Senator Moye was accompanied to the meeting by Senator Dr. Henrique F Tokpa and Bong Legislative Caucus Chair Representative Joseph Papa Kolleh.
At the meeting residents of the county expressed their dissatisfaction that they are yet to receive adequate benefits from those concession companies operating in their areas especially mining company MNG-Gold.
Reading a position statement, Mr. Duwah Karngar appealed to the Senators along with the county leadership to put the interest of the citizens above themselves and ensure that a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the company and the citizens fully is adhere to and revisited.
They named lack of educational facilities, health centers, scholarship, safe drinking water and job opportunities for their sons and daughters as problems confronting their life’s and their communities.
Mr. Karngar averred that although they have gold in abundance but their lives remain backward.
Responding to the citizens, Senator Moye re-assured the Bong that his overwhelming election on December 8 is a clear mandate to serve the people of Bong diligently, promising to exert every effort gear towards improving the lives of the people.
He said, he would immediately begin working along with his colleagues and relevant authorities in finding tangible solutions to the problems facing the people.
For his part, Bong County Legislative Caucus Chair Representative Joseph Papa Kolleh termed the meeting as a “new day” for Kokoyah Statutory District.
Hon. Kolleh said elections are now over, it’s time to work for the people of Bong.
