The House Standing Committee on Education, Representative Johnson N. Gwaikolo is urging graduates of the Blue Crest University College in Monrovia to adequately use their respective careers to influence the society for the better.
Representative Gwaikolo, also a professor, challenged the Blue Crest graduates to serve as ambassadors in driving Liberia’s technological revolution.
“Love what you choose to do and choose what you love to do,” he told the graduates.
He ,however, emphasized the importance for government to make more investment in education as a means of transforming the youthful generation of Liberia.
Dr. Gwaikolo noted that building the human resource capacity especially the youth is key to the development of the Country.
Dr. Gwaikolo was speaking Saturday,March 20,2021 when he delivered third commencement address of the BlueCrest University College.
He also stressed that interest should be placed in governance, accountability and transparency.
The Former United Methodist University President called for a holistic internship program reflective of students careers.
Representative Gwaikolo insisted that corporate education or work integrated leadership is very important and meaningful to the growth and development of any society.
He recommended the formulation of a program that would allow graduates from University, vocational and technical institutions to have immediate access to job opportunity instead of roaming the corridor of the job market for four to five years in search job.
Professor Gwaikolo at the same time paid homage to the BlueCrest University College for helping to build the foundation for the graduates especially in the Information Technology sector of Liberia.
He furthered that “IT” plays an important role in helping to eradicate poverty and create jobs through small and medium skills opportunities, among others.
Representative Gwaikolo spoke on the theme: “The Benefit Of Work Integrated Learning.”
Also speaking,the President of BlueCrest University College Dr. Umesh Neelakantan boosted that his institution had set the stage for “IT” education in Liberia by promoting renounce and best educational platform in Liberia.
He reminded the graduates that learning is a never ending process and encouraged them not to be disappointed with small failures in case of challenges.
The Blue Chest President charged the 3rd graduating class to cultivate the culture of respectful, job discipline and remain determined and focused in pursuit of achieving their respective goals in life.
“IT” which he noted is the backbone to any sector and society ” was also quick to emphasize that education is key to build a resourceful capital.
Dr. Neelakantan also disclosed plans by the BlueCrest University College to offer Masters in Information Technology, Cyber Security and other professional courses in the not too distance future.
About 125 persons received degrees in various disciplines including Information Technology, Management,Fashion and Design among others.
