At least Six thousands Liberian, men, women and Children’s, from Flehla, lower-Bong County, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 benefitted from free medical care from the Christian Emergency relief team CERT International in partnership with the GSA road church of Christ.
The initiative is part of a weeklong free medical assistance in Liberia, powered by the GSA Road Church of Christ, which kick -started on Monday, April 12, in the surb of Paynesville City, outside, Monrovia when hundreds, men, Women and Children including students benefitted from free medical checkup and medicines.
Members of the Christian Emergency relief team CERT International including the director of operations Dr. Michele Wyatt, are currently in Liberia providing free medical service to Liberian.
According to Pastor Alfred Beyan of the GSA road church of Christ, said the free medical initiative is the church own way of reaching out to the people as part of preaching out the gospel. He said the church goal is to save lives, cater to the needy, as well as serving humanity and preaching the gospel.
” Our mission is to serve the needy, reach out to the poor and preach the gospel, so this free medical exercise is just part of our calling of what God wants us to do as a church to serve his people, Pastor Beyan said.
Expressing excitement about the free medication services carryout by the Christian Emergency relief team on behalf of the church of Christ, in the rural part of Liberia, Pastor Beyan describes it as laudable.
” This is laudable, we want to give glory to the Almighty God for what he continue to do, through the church of Christ, to offer free medical assistance to our people.
Pastor Beyan said the GSA Road Church of Christ has revealed that some rural dwellers do not have access to medical care and that made the church and its partner the CERT International to take the free medical services to Flehela, Bong County.
” We are touching lives and this what God wants us to do, Pastor Beyan, averred.
For her part, Doctor Michele Wyatt, Director of Operations of the Christian Emergency relief team CERT international, said, “As part of CERT international mission particularly as an non-profit, NGO, we want to bring healthcare delivery to the grassroots where people are unable to access quality healthcare as a result of poverty or lack of money as the case may be.”
Dr.Wyatt said as part of CERT international mission is following the Life of Jesus. “We “go” to care for the physical needs and preach the Gospel, She said. As a serve and assist organization, we come-along-side Christian nationals who are already doing good works in their communities to support them and preach the Gospel.
This one reason while we have partner with the GSA road church of Christ to visit, Liberia and reach out to the needy, Dr. Wyatt stressed.
Expressing joy for the gesture, the Public Health Officer in charge of the Tonita Medical Clinic in Flehela, Bong County, where the free medication was given, John B. Travis, who is also the director of the Save home -Orphanage center, thanked CERT international and the GSA Road Church of Christ for extending the free medical service to that part of Bong County.
He said the health center are faced with some challenges.
“On daily basis people visit the facility but because of poverty some don’t come except when the situation becomes worse, maybe they have been sick for a long time. We don’t have a resident doctor.
“We feel great with the free medical service render to our people today, it has helped to improve the health of our people today, thank, to CERT international and the Church of Christ for this,” he said.
