Compound #3, Grand Bassa County- It has been a long standing debate since Former President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf branded the education system messy.
This statement by the Former President has resonated especially with poor performance of high school students in regional tests and public massive failures, including the much talked about entrance examinations administered by the University of Liberia in 2013.
Many Liberians have attributed such poor performances to the lack of quality education being reported by several schools across the country owing to the lack of laboratories, qualified teachers and conducive environment, amongst others.
Since his ascendency as head of state, President George Weah has instituted several measures to curb the challenges the Liberian educational system is faced with including payment of fees for twelve grade students sitting the West African Senior School Council Examinations (WASSCE) and his declaration making all public Colleges and Universities tuition free across Liberia.
According to the Liberian Leader, such action will ease the stress on students to focus more on studies then fees that he thinks is a major contributing factor to poor performances.
In pursuit of his quest of excellence in the educational sector, President George Weah was thrilled by the eloquent display of student Comfort Peters while delivering a statement.
Comfort Russ is a student of Gorblee Public High School, her eloquence could not unnoticed by the crowd attending the Town Hall Meeting, especially the President who admired her output.
The Liberian Leader, did not only applaud her for being articulate but awarded student Comfort Russ scholarship to obtain from first degree to Master Degree.
Her smiles and body language could portray how joyous it was for a female like her coming from a Town that is struggling to rise developmentally.
The applauds from both the guests and residents of Gorblee Town, Compound #3 send a message of gratitude to the President for such gesture.
Meanwhile, during Student Comfort Russ deliverable in a petition on behalf of the student Community Of Gorblee, Compound #3 District #4 calls on President Weah to improve learning conditions in that part of Liberia.
She named some of the constraints as lack of science and computer laboratories, qualified instructional staff, armchairs and amongst others.
