The mother of four children (quadruplet) in Kakata City, Margibi County, Famata Garmon has launched an SOS call to the Government of Liberia and other philanthropists.
The 30-years old mother who gave birth to the four set of children on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the only government referral Hospital, Charles Henry Rennie Hospital in Kakata told newsmen that she and her infants need urgent help.
According to her, she needs food for she and the children, clothing for the babies and shelter (apartment) respectively.
She said her fiancé cannot afford the needs of the children on grounds that he is jobless.
Many Liberians are currently unemployed due to the lack of investment in the country since the Weah government took office 3 years ago.
Additionally, she said her fiancé is a tailor adding that they are only surviving on the little income he generates on a daily basis.
She explained that said income cannot address the current challenge they are faced with and as such there is need for urgent support from the public.
Prior to the pregnancy, according to her she was involved into the sale of “moni kalama” (soft rice) but discontinued because of the pregnancy thus leaving the man with the responsibility of taking care of the home.
The quadruplets’ mother also asserted that currently they are occupying a single room which according to her is small for them especially with the four children on hand.
With this situation, Famata said she needs an apartment that will accommodate she and the children, but said the they cannot afford the amount (US$50 to US$100) charged per month.
She further disclosed that she and her partner cannot afford to provide food for the babies due to the lack of money.
Famata has at the same time revealed that she is now the mother of six children.
The lady said she gave birth to twins 13-years ago but due to poverty, she sent the two children to her mother in Lofa County, western Liberia.
Famata also mentioned that the two children are not in school because of financial challenges thereby calling for support that will enable them go to school.
She meanwhile thanked recent donors who have made contribution while she’s at the Hospital but expressed the need for more support.
